Since the WordPress update I have not been able to edit posts in the block editor as haf way down each page, the blocks are blocked (!) by a series of drop down menus as in the image link.
Two of the these are related to plugins – Yoast Version 13.4.1 and Ultimate Social Media. If I disable these the dropdowns disappear. One is, rather unfortunately, related to the theme I use, which is a real problem for such a large site.
But one of the dropdowns is actually for the post settings themselves. Which I can do nothing about as that’s an actual WP thing. Anyone else having this problem? Fixes, advice, anything would be good. I’ve temporarily went back to the classic editor but would rather have a proper fix. Many thanks.

We’re sorry that you are experiencing problems that might be caused by our plugin!

Just to be sure, we would like to rule out any plugin or theme conflicts that may occur. The fastest way to do this is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Nineteen

Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check without affecting normal visitors to your site.

As we can imagine that you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts.

Thanks for that. I’ve been through all the health checks suggested. It appears to be a problem across multiple sites and users following the recent WP core update. I logged the problem with WP but they suggested that highlighting it to plugin developers who could then also log issues with them might speed up a resolution. THanks for your reply.

I do not see an ‘Ultimate Social Media’ plugin in the WordPress plugin repo. I did test with this plugin which seems to be the same plugin based on your screenshot. I was unable to reproduce the issue you experienced.

Please provide the answers to the following:

    • Does the issue occur when using a default theme with only Yoast SEO active? With only Yoast SEO and Ultimate Social Media?
    • Does the issue occur with the current 5.4 version of WordPress?
    • Is the issue specific to a certain part of your site, like posts, products, categories, etc?
    • Are you using a supported browser? If so, which browser and version are you using? What browsers and versions does Yoast support?
    • Does it work when using another browser and/or private/incognito mode?
    • Check for JavaScript errors with your console.

If you find any JavaScript errors related to Yoast SEO or if there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new GitHub issue for our developers. Please report the issue to a third party developer as well.

If you didn’t find any conflicts or errors, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our premium email support so we can help you further.

As I mentioned before I am one of several users across different sites who are experiencing this issue. The problem seems to lie with the latest WP upgrade and as previously stated, they advised me to log this with plugin developers whose plugins are affected in the hope that they would also log an error with WP to try and facilitate a fix. Thank you.

Without being able to reproduce the issue or more information about how to reproduce the issue, there’s nothing more we can offer.
