    Hi there,

Some modules require a connection to since they use resources to function, such as the comment form (loaded in an iframe from, Stats (compiled on servers), Subscriptions (mailed out from servers), or Photon (images are loaded from the CDN rather than from your server). Some modules however work without a connection, such as Carousel, or Custom CSS, since they don’t depend on resources. If you’d like to use those modules without connecting to, then I suggest you try our Dev mode:

This will remove the prompt to connect to and will allow you to use those modules that do not require a connection.

As for connection problems with hosts that have “tighter security” as you put it, I’d love to help troubleshoot this with you, as there may be something we can do on our end to fix it. If you could give me your site’s URL, or even better, send in a Debug report, then I could take a closer look at the problem.

Here’s how to send a debug report:

    1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
    2) Click on “Help” tab in the upper right side of the page and click the link for “Jetpack Debugging Center.”
    3) Click the link that says “click here to contact Jetpack support.”
    4) Fill in the description box and your name and email address.
    5) Click the “Contact Support” button.
