    Hi there,

Some modules require a connection to WordPress.com since they use WordPress.com resources to function, such as the comment form (loaded in an iframe from WordPress.com), Stats (compiled on WordPress.com servers), Subscriptions (mailed out from WordPress.com servers), or Photon (images are loaded from the WordPress.com CDN rather than from your server). Some modules however work without a WordPress.com connection, such as Carousel, or Custom CSS, since they don't depend on WordPress.com resources. If you'd like to use those modules without connecting to WordPress.com, then I suggest you try our Dev mode:

This will remove the prompt to connect to WordPress.com and will allow you to use those modules that do not require a connection.

As for connection problems with hosts that have "tighter security" as you put it, I'd love to help troubleshoot this with you, as there may be something we can do on our end to fix it. If you could give me your site's URL, or even better, send in a Debug report, then I could take a closer look at the problem.

Here's how to send a debug report:

    1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
    2) Click on "Help" tab in the upper right side of the page and click the link for "Jetpack Debugging Center."
    3) Click the link that says "click here to contact Jetpack support."
    4) Fill in the description box and your name and email address.
    5) Click the "Contact Support" button.
