• WordPress seems to be growing, or at least the core files are. It’s currently taking up pretty much all of my 500MB of webspace. And no matter how much extra space I try to free, it seems to fill it.

My core files are currently at 120MB down to 20MB split between 6 files.

I only use my webspace for hosting the WordPress installation, plugins, theme and posts, all the images and videos are hosted offsite (flickr and Jumpcut), so is there any reason why WordPress should be nearly 500MB in size?

Is there a way to clean the installation, or compress the core files down so that it doesn’t take up so much space?

    Thanks,

    Dean

  • Hmm, that doesn’t sound right. I just downloaded WordPress 2.5.1, unzipped it, and it’s 4MB.

You’re using a lot of images, but still, 120MB doesn’t sound right.

    Thoughts?
