Support » Plugin: WordPress Download Manager » Bloated download stats table

  • The table wp_ahm_download_stats is now the largest db table for our site as every single download is listed. Why you’d want to know every URL that has downloaded a file I don’t know but it’s no use to us and is eating up space.
Might even be illegal to store this information without consent, I don’t know.

All we want to know is the download count for each file. Is there a way to record just that, incrementing the count for a particular file, not adding a new row for each download?

I see that the ‘history’ setting is where these are shown. If you clear history will that clear the download count? (obviously I don’t want to clear the download count).

We have 106 downloadable files and a staggering 16852 rows in the table. This is not sustainable.

    Hi,

If you clear the history for wp_ahm_download_stats table, it will not clear the download count. you can also check one for testing purpose

    thanks

There is an option in the latest version for clear history, you may check it,

Yes I’ve done that successfully, but doesn’t it just start recording the history again? I want to turn it off.

Is it something to do with privacy settings?

    Do not store visitor’s IP
Check this option if you do not want to store visitors IPs

I can’t find any documentation on the privacy settings. What does this do, and what does Cache empty & delete Stats do?

It needs customization the code, unless, you can delete the history daily in a time

    thanks

I think I understand that… I don’t want to have to keep clearing the history. You should give an option to turn it off.

What do the privacy settings do?

It will do the same, but it will clear the download stats

    thanks
