• I strongly advise against using Directorist plugins or themes. The codebase is incredibly bloated and poorly written, leading to numerous performance issues and inconsistencies across their themes and plugins. Many features are implemented in a disorganized and unreliable manner, often resulting in unexpected bugs.

    One of the most frustrating aspects is customization—many colors and styles are hardcoded, making it unnecessarily difficult to tailor the theme to your needs without extensive modifications. Simple styling adjustments require digging through excessive inline styles and deeply embedded CSS, which significantly complicates the process.

    Beyond the technical flaws, the customer support experience has been equally disappointing. Despite having the highest-tier membership, Lifetime Premium, I have encountered slow and unhelpful responses, often waiting weeks or even months for a resolution. In some cases, their support has even caused more harm than good—breaking my site, resetting settings without my consent, and leaving critical issues unresolved.

    For over two months, I have been trying to get assistance for multiple serious issues, but the support team has been unresponsive and ineffective. Given my experience, I cannot recommend Directorist to anyone looking for a reliable and well-supported directory solution. If you’re considering using this plugin, be prepared for a frustrating and time-consuming experience.

    Hello neliro!

    We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you have faced with Directorist and our support services. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us, and we genuinely appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

    Regarding the codebase, we acknowledge that earlier versions had areas that needed improvement. However, with the release of version 8, we have made significant optimizations to enhance the overall structure, performance, and reliability of the system. As with all WordPress plugins and themes, continuous improvements are made to align with best practices, and we are committed to making Directorist even better. If you could specify which parts of the codebase you found problematic or which features felt disorganized, it would greatly help us refine and improve our product further.

    On the topic of style customization, we understand that flexibility is crucial. While Directorist provides extensive options for customization within popular page builders like Elementor, Bricks, and Gutenberg, it is not always feasible to offer configuration options for every module. This approach is common among most WordPress themes and plugins. For deeper customizations, CSS and template overrides are the standard approach within the WordPress ecosystem. However, we acknowledge that improvements can always be made, and we would love to hear specific areas where we can enhance flexibility.

    We also acknowledge your concerns regarding support delays. As a Lifetime Premium user, you absolutely deserve priority support, and we deeply regret any delays in resolving your issues. The volume of ongoing tickets at times can lead to response delays, but we assure you this is not our standard practice. We are actively working to enhance our support process to ensure faster and more effective assistance. Kindly co-operate a bit with us in the ticket.

    To troubleshoot effectively and ensure your live site remains unaffected, we always request staging site and FTP access. This is a best practice to conduct safe and in-depth debugging. Unfortunately, we could not proceed with certain fixes as we did not receive the necessary access details from your end. We kindly request you share staging site credentials and FTP access so we can address your concerns efficiently.

    Your satisfaction is our top priority, and we truly value your cooperation in resolving these issues together. We appreciate your patience and look forward to providing you with the best possible support experience.

    Best regards,

    @rashed848

    Version 8 release was the worst release every in Directorist history, and probably among wost releases in the entire WP ecosystem. It broke websites down for many people and did not offer any significant performance nor customization improvements. Your Bricks extension is half baked bunch of shortcodes that do not work with Bricks templating system. I have written many times and pointed to all the issues that v8 caused, and yet nothing has been addressed. As @neliro pointed out, Directorist is now a bloated and unreliable piece of software that does not offer customization options and comes with extremely poor and sluggish support.
    People looking to build a directory site, will be better served with Voxel or GeoDirectory and should avoid Directorist at all costs.
