blank theme / framework – what’s the new hotness?

    Over the past few days I’ve been on a hunt for a new blank to use when starting WP projects. For a long time I used Sandbox but the development seems to have stalled and since all sorts of new WP features have been introduced that aren’t present in the theme (threaded comments, wp menu, post image, etc).

    Ive been poking around looking for something better and more complete but so far haven’t found anything worthy. What are you guys using when starting a WP build?

    It’s not a “blank” but the TwentyTen theme is the new hotness 😉

    You could try Thematic or Hybrid for something closer but newer then Sandbox.

    ^^I seem to remember those refueled themes from years back. did they ever get an update to support the new features? the download page and demo theme are a little less than explanatory…

    ^Hybrid and Thematic are both very interesting to me but they both look a little to ‘heavy’ for my needs. I’ve actually purchased a few Thematic child themes over the years and while they were made well, I seemed to run into a bunch of extra functions, custom code, markup I didn’t need, etc.

    basically I’m just after a completely vanilla, CSS-less theme with the basic (but newest) WP guts (loops, comments, etc)

    although I have been following Justin Tadlock for quite some time, maybe I should give Hybrid a shot.
