Support » Plugin: Maintenance » Blank Preview Screen – All Posts, Pages, Product Pages – Maintenance v3.7 update

    Issue
This recent update creates a conflict with WordPress, in all posts, pages and product pages/posts, I cannot preview any of them when they are in Draft Status, and this applies to clicking the “preview” button or link, and applies to clicking the “permalink” of any post/page that is in Draft status.

    Issue Description
In a published page or post, clicking “preview” button results in the same blank page. Clicking the “permalink” works fine.

So this affects anything to do with a “preview mode”, which is what Draft status post/page uses.

Preview Kicks Me Into Maintenance Mode
At times, instead of a blank page, the preview kicks me straight into maintenance mode page, as if the maintenance page is set to “On”, when it is set to “Off”.

    “On/Off” Test
I tested the “On” “Off” mode of the plugin, it works fine closing the website to a maintenance page when On, and opens the site when “Off”, except, the preview problem remains no matter if On or Off

    Debugging
I activated WordPress debug mode in wpconfig.php, set to “true”. Here are the PHP errors that show:

Notice: Undefined index: preview_nonce in /wp-content/plugins/maintenance/includes/functions.php on line 598

Notice: Undefined index: preview_id in /wp-content/plugins/maintenance/includes/functions.php on line 598

(I took out my website URL reference).

    Maintenance Plugin Deactivation Fixes Issue
From those errors, I deactivated the Maintenance plugin and all returned to normal, the issue was fixed.

Looks like you need to do another update soon.

    Hi @mwarbinek

Having seen what happens with version 3.7.0 and all those problems, I will remain in version 3.6.3 even if I cannot deactivate this box: ‘Send configuration information’ (it doesn’t worry me).

I don’t know what updates version 3.6.4 has. When this update was done the WordPress team had not enabled the plugin homepage again.

    Greetings!

I cannot use the new version of the Maintenance plugin because, as you have said, “problems” as several or many. So to be able to use it, I copied the older version from another website over to my clients website. I would rather work with an older version that is stable and useable than take chances with a version that causes nothing but headaches.

As for the “Send configuration information” box, haven’t seen that one on my site. Where is that found or how does it come up?

    Hi @mwarbinek

It is a defect of this 3.6.3 version that another user notified. And so the WordPress team closed the download of this plugin.

I can not deactivate this box: ‘Send configuration information’. See capture: https://imgur.com/a/2dghSwR
Route to find option: click on the menu of this plugin in WordPress. And in the related window scroll down to the end, to see the section: ‘Please, help us perform better!’

In any case, the information obtained in theory is only technical and anonymous. It’s not a problem for me.

Now you can download this version from the main page of the plugin, in the ‘Advanced View’ section (under ‘Tags’, right side):
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/maintenance/advanced/
In this new page scroll down and where you see ‘PREVIOUS VERSIONS’ you click on the version you want.

You have another more comfortable option using the ‘WP Rollback’ plugin:
    https://es.wordpress.org/plugins/wp-rollback/

    Greetings!
