Managed to get the page open by de-activating all other plugins and trying again. Once I got the key saved, re-activated the plugins and had no other issue.

Getting the same issue and WPNI’s fix did not work for me.

Same issue, Akismet support worked with me via live chat for a long time. Unable to resolve. Anyone comes along with a fix for this (free version of Akismet), please share! Thank you so much. It just shows the word “Akismet” at the top left and the page is BLANK. Tried everything: deactivate, reactivate, install, uninstall (both vita FTP and via admin “add plugin” methods), enable “debug” mode and NO LOG shows with errors, cleared cache (duh), etc. etc. etc. etc.

    Hi Kay,

Did you also try disabling all other plugins and select a default theme (such as twenty fifteen) to see if the problem persists?

Having the same problem. Deactivated all plugins, switched to 2015 theme, activated Akismet. Blank page other than the word Akismet at the top. Anyone find a fix?

follow-up – Deleted plugin, deleted folder, reinstalled with same result, Dashboard menu is still present, right pane only has the word Akismet at the top and the rest is blank.

Tried everything and then some. ‘Tis a mystery. I manually entered the key in the config file and it now shows the Akismet page inside the admin area like it should have after activating the plugin. Very odd. This has now happened on several sites I run, one of which was default as heck, so it’s not a plugin conflict or something like that. And using the same shared hosting for over a decade with no settings on their end causing any problems. Whatever this is, it’s sudden, new (last two weeks?) and random, near as I can tell. Hope this helps someone else narrow things down. Meanwhile you can always enter the key manually as I have done on a couple sites. Best of luck!

kay9 is the winner. I had been looking for a solution to this problem for a few hours, and this was one of the few suggestions that could be tried on a live site. Changing the theme is never really an option on a live site, at least not one that belongs to a client.

    Adding this
    define( 'WPCOM_API_KEY', 'abcd1234efgh' );
to the bottom of the wp-config.php file did the trick (obviously using my WP API key instead of abcd1234efgh).

    Thanks Kay!

I’ve narrowed down the source of this problem to a misconfiguration in the Akismet.com account for the affected user.

@wpni, @splitterside, @bbowers2014, and @kay9, your accounts should be fixed now.

@champlainmarketing, can you email support@akismet.com with your API key so that I can check your account and fix it up?

I am having the same problem.

@richardlowejr: Can you email support@akismet.com with the API key that is giving you the problem?

Having the same issue as well.

Update: Resolved by emailing support with api key

Ok I may be having the same issue.
When clicking on the Akismet link in admin

    I get this page

    /admin.php?page=akismet-key-config

The left hand menu and the top navbar are both visible but the content area is completely blank, there is no akismet heading

What misconfigurement should I be looking for in my Akismet account?
