I have a plank page (i removed everything from the page for testing) that appears with widgets. This happens since i added a plugin called Yoast SEO. Even if i remove the page and create a new one, it is not blank. In the title appears “nothing found” and below is a search field.
Before i removed everything from the page i added posts via shortcodes, but even with the posts the page had this weird title “Archive” in the top, which i couldn’t remove either.

The plugin is deleted now but i still have this issue.

  • Perhaps you have a template selected that is showing Widgets by Default. I’m not sure what theme you are using, however see if there is a full width page template, which would then disable the widgets.

I used the twentythirteen template, but i modified it.

I was able to solve the problem:
    – I disabled the plugin
    – removed the page
    – removed the entry in the menu manually
    – created a new page
    – added the page to the menu
    – actived the plugin again

Now it works. I don’t know why this happened, but i guess something was changed in the database by this Yoast SEO plugin, which couldn’t be removed afterwards.
    Thank you for your help.
