* Hi there,
* When in contact with Spotify support due to recent episodes not showing up, they
   discovered that all our GUIDs after March were coming up blank.
* Last working one:
    `
`
* After that:
    `
`
* Any tips? AFAIK I have not changed any settings which should affect a GUID
* The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fblank-guids%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

* Do you have experience with phpmyadmin? If so to look at the post table and see
   if the guid column is blank.
* If it is blank, something (most likely a plugin) is blanking it out.
* If it is not blank, something (most likely a plugin) is removing it during feed
   generation.
* You can also try the option in PowerPress to prevent other plugins from modifying
   the podcast feeds. (in the Feeds menu of PowerPress settings)
* Definitely an issue outside PowerPress though, even the regular blog feed has
   blanked out guids: [https://fyx.space/feed/](https://fyx.space/feed/)

* I’m taking a look at phpmyadmin, wp_posts table, and it does seem that recent
   posts all have blank GUIDs ([image](https://i.imgur.com/DWDlLsN.png))
* Also, interestingly, the “Do not allow other plugins to modify podcast feeds.”
   option was already selected.
* I’m not too sure which other plugin(s) might be causing this as, AFAIK, we haven’t
   added any in the past year; but I will try and inspect to see if I can track
   anything down.
* Any advice for how to potentially repopulate these GUIDs? =] I’d do it via phpmyadmin,
   but feel as though WP might want triggers based on changes which a db update
   might not affect

* Tracking down what Plugin is causing it (or it can be a theme issue) can be difficult.
* Doing a test blog post (since the blog feed also has blank GUIDs with some plugins
   disabled maybe how to do it. See: [https://create.blubrry.com/resources/powerpress/using-powerpress/diagnosing-feed-andor-player-issues-with-powerpress/](https://create.blubrry.com/resources/powerpress/using-powerpress/diagnosing-feed-andor-player-issues-with-powerpress/)
* I think you can just put a random number or something in there. BUT, if you change
   the GUIDs (or populate them) the episodes may show up as new on all the other
   apps and directories.

* Was able to track down the issue!
* It looks like there was an update to a tool we use to generate an XML Sitemap(
   for google analytics crawls). I’m not sure what the update did, but I removed
   the plugin and did a few test posts which seemed to clear up the GUID issue.
* Afterwards I went into the database and updated the empty fields (sorry RSS peeps,
   they’ll be marked as new but yolo), and a few test run posts seem to show that
   the feed is updating properly now =]
* Thanks for the pushes in the right direction!

* What was the name of the sitemaps tool? Is it a Plugin?

* It was just “XML Sitemaps Generator”
* However that didn’t seem to be it =[ We’re still getting blank GUIDs with new
   episodes..
* For now I’m just updating the GUID manually every time we update ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

* Hello [@bassman2112](https://wordpress.org/support/users/bassman2112/),
* Since the last major WP update are you still using the XML Sitemap code you mentioned
   earlier or did you switch over to letting WordPress manage your sitemaps? The
   latest update may have fixed the issue with WP?
* Thanks,
    Angelo
