I’ve setup CleanTalk on my site and subscribed to (and paid for!) CleanTalk’s Anti-Spam service. Since then, each time I start my website, a broweser tab opens up first, with the title “Blacklisted” and a page heading that says “Anti-Crawler Protection is activated for your IP” followed by my IP address and a counter of 5 seconds which, once clears, then loads my home page.

Why does this tab have the label “Blacklisted” as its title? Is this a page my visitors see when they first access my webpage? Waving a “blacklisted” banner in front of prospective customers is NOT a way to attract people to my site, or keep them there once they see the heading. As I cannot find this page in your help documentation, can you tell me please why this page is appearing and what I can do to ensure it’s not waved in front of my site visitors.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello, @ianmp

The Anti-Crawler option is meant to block spam-bots visiting website pages:
    https://cleantalk.org/help/anti-flood-and-anti-crawler

I’ve just tested your website and didn’t get the block.

Please, try to deactivate the plugin with the “Complete deactivation” option enabled.

    1. Enter the Antispam by Cleantalk plugin settings. (WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Antispam by Cleantalk > Advanced settings)

    2. Check the last settings “Complete deactivation” and save changes.

    3. Deactivate the plugin on the “Plugins” page in WordPress Dashboard.

    4. Activate the plugin, enter the access key and save the settings.

    5. Press Synchronize with Cloud button here:

Wordpress Dashboard > Settings > Antispam by Cleantalk

    Did it help?`

Thanks for that very quick response. I know that my IP is not blocked (I checked on your site through my account).

What I’m concerned about is the appearance of that page to visitors, especially with the word “Blacklisted” as a tab heading. If they see that, they are likely to close the tab (as would if I saw “blacklisted”) before even attempting to read the detail of the page and resolve never to return.

SO my questions still stand: why does the Tab have the title “Blacklisted” and does my site visitors see that page?

I will go through the reinstall as you suggest above, but ONLY if you are saying that this will mean that visitors will then NOT see BLACKLISTED as a tab title.

I believe it was just a false positive for your IP address. I’ve made few tests and didn’t see this screen. Real visitors shouldn’t see this screen as well. Just perform the steps, that I recommended you in my previous reply.

OK, thanks. SO just so we’re clear though, the IP address that is displayed on your page is the IP of the my LOCATION (my Business IP through which I’m logging on), NOT of my website. My website would have the IP of my service provider.

There is no reason why my business IP would be blocked, as it’s new and does not show up in your register, so why the message?

As I said before, the Anti-Crawler Protection is triggering for spam-bots only. But, unfortunately, your IP was blocked by mistake, that’s why you got the “Blacklisted” page.

Thanks again. And forgive me if I seem to be asking daft questions, but I’m trying to understand what’s happening here. My website’s fine but it seems my own IP is not (the tab only appears when I log on to my public website, which is also our browser homepage here in the office). So, how do I ensure I DON’T get false positives for my IP? DO I need to raise this with my business broadband service provider?

You can whitelist your IP, so it won’t be blocked anymore here:

DO I need to raise this with my business broadband service provider?

You don’t need to contact your service provider. Just follow my recommendations and the issue should be gone:

    Thank you.

OK, brilliant. Now I know how to correct it. I have set up my IP in the personal whitelist so hopefully, after it filters through, the problem will have gone away. Thanks again.
