I am use the blacklist manager to blacklist certain IP address which keep using banned usernames such as admin and administrator to try to log into the site. I also blacklist IP addresses which do brute force attacks on my site.

So I see all of the IP’s i ban in the blacklist manager tab, I don’t see any IP’s in the Permanently Block List on the General Page, so how can I add IP address to that list?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi, the following explains the difference between both features. This should help you better understand how to use and manage both options.

Permanent block list serves as a general IP blocking list similar to the blacklist but the difference is that the blacklist uses only .htaccess directives to block IPs whereas the permanent block list works at the PHP level independent of .htaccess.

In other words the permanent block list will be an alternative to the blacklist and will cater for people who don’t have an Apache style server installation.

Permanently Block List feature displays IP addresses blocked in the following area Comment Spam IP Monitoring tab.

Let me know if you need more help.

    Thank you

    Hi @nesskur000,
As explained in the info quoted in mbrsolution’s reply the “permanent block list” blocks via PHP and can currently be populated via one of the SPAM features.

In an upcoming release the permanent block list will be expanded such that you will be able to enter any IP addresses you wish via a settings page.
