I installed WordPress at http://www.celtic-irish.co.uk/wordpress/ to test it out and try a few things.

Then I STUPIDLY changed the blog address (I think it was) on the admin page from http://www.celtic-irish.co.uk/wordpress/ to http://www.celtic-irish.co.uk/.

Now when I try and login it looks for the login script in the root and not in the sub-directory where it should be so I can no longer do anything. Is there anyway I can change it back? I have tried to manually change the webaddress when it appears in the address-bar which brings me back to the options. However, I can’t change the address back because it does not check the login name correctly.

If you try to login you will see the problem – if I haven’t explained it very well.

Is there anyway I can correct this?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Do you have access to phpmyadmin? You need to go into the database and make a change.

Look in the wp_options table. The row is where the “siteurl” option is located. Change that so it points to the correct URL.

If you dont’ have phpmyadmin than delete the whole thing and reinstall it. You can also SSH into your server and manually execute a mysql command.

Thank you for getting back to me. I do not believe I have access to phpmyadmin but I have since found the instructions from another post once there. I believe my webhost should give me access but not by default.

I am very interested to find out about this “SSH into your server and manually execute a mysql command”…?

If I do delete it, how can I delete the information in the database. I believe I have just the one database and it is also used for a forum… (I really wish I hadn’t changed host now!)Do I have delete all files or will only a few do the job.
