A large grey blob has recently appeared below each post, the class is “bluesky-social-integration-external-content-url”. Not clear what it is, or how to tame it. Please explain, thanks

    hello @hammersmithsociety ,

Thanks for the report. Seems like a tiny icon went too big on your website.

I’m out for a sport session. Let me come back to you during the afternoon/evening with a solution.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Hey @hammersmithsociety ,

Just fixed the CSS of the plugin to avoid having issues with theme compatibility.
The problem was coming from a general CSS rule on your theme for sizing SVG images (the small dot is an SVG file of a small globe representing the link). The plugin now override this value when SVG are from the plugin πŸ™‚

Don’t hesitate to share this kind of bug with me, it’s pretty fast to fix and will improve compatibility with other themes as well.

Step by step, we improve the plugin together.
Would love to have a small review from you, here, to support the plugin, if you have the time of course. πŸ™‚

PS. it should come with the new 2.1.1 version of the plugin.

Great thanks for instant support – that’s fixed it πŸ™‚

I had to clear the caches everywhere to clear it also…

    hello @hammersmithsociety

It means you might have a cache on your website to deliver the page faster. Try to find the cache options (a plugin or the host) and clean it up.

Usually when you have no cache for logged in users, and cache for the rest of the worlds, it’s on a plugin option.

Tell me what you found 😊 It might be useful for other folks coming around this topic.

The website cache (wp-fastest-cache) is set to clear the ‘all cache’ every 8 hours, so I expected it to get fixed. But that didn’t clear it. I had to manually clear the minified css/js cache, which seems doesn’t get cleared with ‘all’ rule. There seems to be no way to auto-clear that. Of course other caches will be different.

I think there may be a aide-effect of the recent change, not sure. I have a couple of posts that have no images, and in each case there’s a big white space where the link text should be – links appear with text on the Bluesky posts on the web. Might just be a colour thing. You can see it at the bottom of the home page here: https://www.londonforum.org.uk/

    Hello @hammersmithsociety ,

Checking it right now . I’ll keep you posted.

@hammersmithsociety version 2.2.0 is being released. Should arrive to you soon.

Don’t forget to clean the cache. I’ve also fixed an additional aspect on your theme. (The globe icon should now be a globe, not a dot)

    Thread Starter hammersmithsociety

    (@hammersmithsociety)

Thanks – the globe is there now but seems the text of the link is perhaps not being provided as there’s still a significant white space in each post where the link text appears in the Bluesky web version (it is clickable, so the link info is there at least). The link is also shown above in the main body text, it’s not strictly necessary, maybe lose the white space if empty?

@hammersmithsociety That’s weird in you case. Nothing should be displayed there is there is no image.

Are you using the widget or the Gutenberg block?

Sorry for that. I’m lacking information to reproduce the bug on my side.

It’s just the shortcode: [bluesky_last_posts]. We can’t use blocks with Avada.

    hello @hammersmithsociety ,

I published a new 2.2.1 yesterday. I thought at first it was a bug from the plugin but it’s just a case I didn’t cover : document attachments to a bluesky post.

I tried something but I couldn’t test it in real condition. If you have the time to try and update the plugin and cache πŸ™πŸ»

Thank youuuu (hope the SVG of the file icon doesn’t explode πŸ˜‚)

    (@hammersmithsociety)

I installed it, works OK with a couple of observations:

    1. The SVG icon does indeed explode, but apparently only on mobile chrome in my testing. It doesn’t explode on a mobile emulator, only actual mobile. I’ve not extensively tested other scenarios.
    2. The icon and text is off to the right, which you can see on the website on a desktop. The icon is a bit different on desktop, but in this case is the right size.

@hammersmithsociety thanks for the report. I’m gonna adjust the styling based on your website to better control how SVG react and should be managed by default.

Hoping the next SVG implemented will inherit this styling and you’ll never suffer from a weird visual behaviour.

Thanks for the tests again, I’ll try to push an update really soon (this evening or tomorrow)
