• I never post reviews considering it’s a waste of time, but this plugin is so terrible I had to chime in. The developer’s website shows that the plugin as a “delete” button for user roles, but this is not the case. If you create a custom user role, there is no way to delete it using the plugin’s interface… unless you want to upgrade to a paid version. It’s a violation of WordPress plugin guidelines to have a free plugin alter a WordPress install, and then require the user to pay in order to remove what the plugin added.

You should look elsewhere for a different plugin that handles user roles more effectively.

This message does not correspond to the reality. @trickypaladin did not wait an answer oh his question at the support forum:
    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/there-is-no-delete-button-for-custome-user-roles
but decided to send a bad review instead.

Moreover the message above contains the unchecked claim that “Delete Role” is a feature available a the Pro version only. It’s not the true.

All functionality declared for the User Role Editor “add/edit/delete user roles” is available and does not ask a cent for it.

Let me repeat what I wrote in response to the question in support forum:
It’s POSSIBLE to delete custom roles and capabilities with Free version. User Role Editor just additionally protects user from “accident” actions and does not allow to delete custom role and capability while it is assigned at least to one user. If User Role Editor does not see role available for deletion (custom role not assigned to any user) it does not show “Delete Role” button.

This video demonstrates that User Role Editor allows to delete custom roles:
