  • There’s a lot to like about Wordfence, particularly in setting up defenses for your login page that limits repeated brute force attacks against it.

Unfortunately, it also flagged one of my pages as a critical threat to the website. Because I was having trouble setting up another WordPress site on my subdomain, I concluded I needed to hire their services.

Checking my sites cost me nearly $400, and the analyst concluded it was a false positive. Their report concluded there were no problems on my websites.

I’m not happy that Wordfence caused the problem that cost me $400 to “fix.” But it’s a business transaction, not a personal attack. I shall walk it off and move forward.

But you should take my story to heart, and be cautious when it reports a problem,

At least I have premium protection on my three websites for the next year.
