Support » Requests and Feedback » Better user interface for vetting outstanding plugin updates

  • The most common reason for me to visit the support forums is to check an outstanding plugin update. I want to see if anyone is having problems that may affect my sites.

Ideally, there would be a view for this, which filters topics by being related to the latest plugin version, possibly being unresolved”, and possibly being a bug. Unfortunately, I can’t see such views 🙁

As an interim measure, I suggest that topics be listed by their creation date, rather than the last update, to allow some correlation with the time of the latest release. Or, at least, that a view be provided, which is sorted by creation date.

But ultimately, I suggest prompting for the plugin version in new topics (can be implemented as a tag), and asking “Is this a bug?” (can also be a tag). Based on this information, I suggest creating the following views:

    • All topics relating to the latest plugin update
    • All unresolved topics relating to the latest plugin update
    • All bug topics relating to the latest plugin update
    • All unresolved bug topics relating to the latest plugin update

In most cases, filtering the topics should be enough to yield a short list, but just in case, it will help to sort all of them by the time of their creation, rather than the last reply.
