Support » Plugin: Simple Login Captcha » Better than hcaptcha and Google Captcha in stopping bots

  • First of all great job Nikolay for offering this simple yet effective plugin.

Deployed this in a few of my clients’ sites to conduct A/B testing.

Set-up : Usual wp installation with Wordfence to alert login attempts. Login is coursed through the usual wp-login URL.

Test 1 : With Google Captcha V2 Activated integrated through Wordfence : 30 days with notification regarding users being locked on in loging in. Tested for 30 Days
Test 2 : With hcaptcha installed, same with Test 1. Tested for 30 Days.
Test 3: With Simple Login Captcha, No notifications for the past 2 weeks.

You may argue that the developer must not use the word captcha . But for me , effectiveness comes first.

Will monitor and revise my review if I see any issues.

    Hello tokie001.
Thank you for the review and testing that you did.
It is probably more effective because no bot has been designed to beat specifically my plugin, since it is not popular. If someone designs a bot for it specifically, that would be much easier to do. But it would still block bots that are not designed for it, which was the whole point of the plugin, to be simple, not cause server load, not cause errors and bugs, and still block random bots that are not designed for it. I may include an image captcha option in the future though, so it is not so easy to design a bot for it, we will see.
    Regards.

Also it could be that my plugin runs earlier that WordFence and the other ones run after the WordFence protection, and that would explain why with my they do not get to WorFence. But if that is the case, you would not see any decrease of WordFence lockouts with the other plugins.
