I have basically wasted the entire day because of Gutenberg bugs. I waited until version 5.1 of WordPress thinking it would be stable by now, big mistake!

Here is a good one… you can’t preview the post you are editing!

First commit seems to be about Feb 2017:

I think WordPress is in desperate need of Gutenberg as it was getting so out of date. The problem is that Gutenberg is not bloody written yet, it is beta test software!

Not only is it not ready, it is very basic. There are some cool blocks being published by 3rd parties… that should be built in. Responsive columns seems mandatory. How come all the most important plugins are not blocks after all this time… Contact Form 7 for example, instead we have this with nobody using it:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/cf-7-gutenberg/

Where is the long awaited official WordPress contact form?? It could have been a block. Blocks could have been amazing, all the missing stuff as blocks.

I have no idea what the problem was, did all the PHP programmers have to go and learn JavaScript and React, that would explain a lot. I don’t see how the project could be so buggy and disliked after two years development. So many peoples livelihoods depend on WordPress.

2 out of 5 for the bugs, if it was bug free I would give it 3 or 4 just as it is so much better than the 1980’s editor it replaced.

I know it is open source and made with love by cool people, but something went wrong with the leadership I assume.

That’s unfortunate. Have you considered raising a support topic? Review are feedback but don’t actually solve problems. A support topic or even a github issue can help.

@jdembowski The bugs I found already had GitHub issues, and I am contributing to those.
