Support » Plugins » Best way to "retire" a plugin. How do you do it?

  • I am in the process of retiring a plugin as its functionality are now covered by another similar plugin of mine.

I am not sure how I need to proceed.

Is there a way to create a new version for this plugin which solely redirect to install the other plugin?

Or shall I release a new version with a different readme file only which warn about the “retirement”?

    Please advice.

    Thanks
    Stef

  • The only thing I have seen is an edit to the plugin’s page in the repository that says something like “This plugin is no longer being maintained. Here are some plugins you might want to look into.”

I certainly wouldn’t make a plugin whose sole purpose is to install another plugin.
