Support » Plugin: The Events Calendar » Best way to deal with old events

I have around 100 old events which I need to delete. I just wondered how people deal with these. Do they simply delete and allow Google to return 404 pages or do they redirect the pages elsewhere, for example to the main calendar?

    Hey @eic2010,

First off, I would like to apologize for the delay answering.
We are currently experiencing a higher level of requests than usual.

Please rest assured that we are working hard at correcting this situation.
We appreciate your patience while we try to normalize things.

    Thank you for reaching out.
    That is a great question.

It is really a personal matter. A lot of our users actually do not delete their events at all. I guess it all depends on what you want your customers’ experience to be like.

If you have to delete those events and I was a customer of yours or a prospective customer, I would absolutely prefer to be redirected to the main calendar page.

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

Thanks for getting back to me.
I don’t have the need to have all my old events on there. Is there a way to redirect them automatically to the main calendar when deleted or a way to redirect a bulk load? I have lots of events to delete and I currently use a redirection plugin but each redirect has to be done individually, a very time consuming process!
Thanks again for your help, it is much appreciated!

    Hey there @eic2010!

This 3rd party plugin, which we don’t support. →

    Hope that helps!
    Ed 🙂
