Best Way to add text to the top of a category archive

I don’t know how I should go about this but what i want to do is have some text and maybe an image above all the post in a category to just emplane what there all about and what to expect to see in this category.

What i was thinking was to make a page put the text (image) in there and then us a short code to display all the post with descriptions from a category below it. but i cant seem to find a plug in that will work that way.

the only other way i can think is to add text to the top of the category archive itself. i have tried this but it seems to mess up my template.

I guess with some work i could get it to work but what will be the best way anyone know?
