Support » Fixing WordPress » Best way to add header, footer, and sidebar to portion of site not in wordpress

  • I have a WordPress site hosted on my server. In my main public HTML folder on the server, I have all the normal wordpress folders, like WP-Content, WP-Admin, etc.

I also have a folder I created called “Rant”, in which I am implementing a php script to lets users leave anonymous postings (using FMyClone script, if it matters). The script is working, but I need it to have the same header, footer, and sidebar as the wordpress pages so that the site has the same consistent look.

What is the best approach for something like this?

Can I call the get_header(), get_sidebar(), get_footer() wordpress functions from within the “Rant” folder somehow?

Would it be better to move this “Rant” folder within the “WP-Content” folder somewhere? I’ve considered possibly making a new template page, but the scripting gets pretty hairy.

Keep in mind that this FMyClone script is essentially its own website – with its own mysql database, its own header.php, functions.php etc.

What would you recommend as the best approach to do something like this? I’m not having much luck so far.
