  • Hi, I’m just getting started out with WordPress. I started reading some things on the net that the “stock” WordPress is not optimized for search engines. I found this article:

    I’m not sure how old it is, but would you agree or disagree to use his recommendations for optimal SEO in WordPress? If not, what do you use/recommend?

  • I’m setting up my blog right now and here’s the list that I’m using

    Title Tag – this is easily manipulated in WP.
    URLs – Get a permalink redirect plugin
    Tagging – Ultimate Tag Warrior (although I just install this and my tags are serving a 404 error…any ideas?)
    Related Posts – Related Entries plugin
    Popular Posts – Popularity Contest plugin
    Make the blog post’s permalink URL from the title of the post
    Adhesive plugin for sticky posts
    Use the H1 and H2 tags wisely
    Author pages for multiple authors are good too.

    I’m using wordpress as a CMS (no real blogging part at all) at:

    For SEO I use;

    Head META Description
    Add Meta Keyword Tag
    Google Sitemaps

    And all the website pages end in .html (I used the standard wordpress post system not there pages system).

    I also use wp-cache to speed up to whole site (SEO related in the way – no one likes a slow website … even robots?).
