We have a site which runs on a completely separate server. That site is dynamic and has forums and things, but it does not use Apache or SQL or PHP. It uses a special object-oriented database.
At the same time, we would like to use WordPress for the home page itself for various reasons, including the fact it looks so nice. 🙂
So what we are thinking of is installing our WordPress instance at a place like wpengine.com and doing a redirect of some kind so people headed for the main site (e.g. http://www.oursite.net) end up at the WordPress site (e.g. http://home.oursite.net).
Is there any advice of the best way to do this redirect, taking into account we don’t want to lose search index traffic, etc.?
