• Hi, I’m opening my store using Woocommerce and WPML pluginh and looking for some advice as I don’t really understand what’s possible and what’s not.

    It’s a single business running on different countries.
    URL structure will be:
    http://www.mystore.com/en-us/ – US store
    http://www.mystore.com/en-uk/ – UK store
    http://www.mystore.com/en-au/ – AU store
    http://www.mystore.com/it-it/ – IT store
    http://www.mystore.com – International store (everything but US, UK, AU and IT)

    – Inventory is shared across all stores
    – Product attributes are different in each country (description, images, price and currency – beware I need to set each price manually, not auto convert through currency converters)
    – Tax are different for each country
    – Shipping options are the same (we only use one warehouse), but shipping costs and timings are different
    – Static page content (images, text) is different
    – I don’t mind if customer database is global or splitted, but I want to prevent any user to register an account in multiple countries.

    If anyone would have any advices and if Woocommerce multilanguage + WPML can handle this situation – or if I require other plugins.

    To be honest, I’d do each store separately and then look for a solution to sync stock.

    I have not tested it, but https://www.pronamic.eu/plugins/woocommerce-stock-synchronization/ claims to do this and could be all you need.

    Thank for your feedback. What are the differences between using a multistore approach vs single store + WPML?

    I know that lot of these inventory sync plugins are not in real-time and this could be a big issue.

    Single store and WPML can cause all kinds of conflicts with extensions, and is generally much slower to perform. I’d definitely recommend the multi-store approach to keep each store’s settings separate.

    Thanks Mike, in this case I agree that Multisite is a better option.

    I have contacted these guys you suggested and it syncs inventory across multiple sites in real time! That’s handy.

    I have only two last questions:
    1. What happens if a user creates an account to the UK version of my website and then tries to create another account in the US store? Can I prevent him to create 2 (or multiple) accounts? I have read that WordPress Multisite sites have different databases…
    2. Can I set up my stores URLs using subfolders? Is it possible to set redirects based on the IP address? (Maybe this is a question for the hosting provider).

    There are plugins to sync users across multisites but I’ve not tried them.

    Unsure about 2. I believe you can use subdomains or folders. Up to you.

    hi, is there a guide for building a multi-store or multi-country woocommerce store. i wonder if different stores was maid with different database and then it was synced with a plugin. how the user management and Database will happen?
