• Hi,
Played around a lot, now want to re-install this to get it how I want it. I’d like to get rid of the /wordpress/ directory altogether if possible. In fact, when I look at the URL for this exact forum page I see:
    http://wordpress.org/support/3
which is exactly the type of thing I want. How can I accomplish this? If I install WP into the /htdocs/ folder of my server I have this:
    domain.com/wordpress/etc…
If I install it in the Apache directory then I can’t access the install script, nor do I think WP would even work if I could. Is there any way to do this?
If not, can I at least rename the wordpress directory to be something more relevant to the content on my site?
    Tom

  • You can put your wp install into any directory you want.
If, when someone visits http://www.domain.com you want then to see your blog page first, then upload the contents of the wordpress folder straight into htdocs.
If you want them to go to domain.com/blog, then make the ‘blog’ directory, and again upload the contents of the wordpress folder into that.
If you want to completely start afresh, just delete the directory with your wp stuff in, and drop all the tables in the database.
Do backup any files you want to keep though – such as wp-layout.css
If you want to rename your blog directory, you can do this too, but you will need phpmyadmin.

You could have posted it in its own thread instead of reviving an unrelated 3 years old topic!
