    UPDATE –

Well, this is quiet a turn. I am going to update my review from 5 star to 1. There was an update to the plug-in that added in a bunch of features that I did not at all want. I like my plug-ins to be concise… to tackle one function and do it well. That is why I liked WP User Avatar. It did what it promised, and nothing more.

Now with this update, I can’t use this plug-in anymore.

This plug-in was one of the standard plug-ins that I put on ALL of my client websites. Now I am making sure to NOT update the plug-in on any site I touch.

I was not begging for WP User Avatar to change. It was perfect as it was. I did not beg for it to hijack my login page design. I can’t even opt out of the login page that this new Frankenstein, Profile Press, requires me to use. I’d very much like to go back to using the “good old” WP User Avatar and this ProfilePress can be released as a separate product, because it really is a different animal. They should have developed and released this separately. The like-mind people who installed this plug-in with the simple desire for a user profile image would have been happy, and anyone looking for a profile manager system could have found their way to the new product.

Edit 2: I emailed WordPress and they have told me, “it’s not actually against the guidelines to totally change what a plugin does.”
