Did you happen to read any of the documentation or installation instructions? The plugin works fine in the configuration you described so if you followed the setup instructions, I'm a little confused as to why you would be having problems.
As far as your claim that the database is broken after use, that's a pretty broad statement. What exactly is the issue? The plugin does not create any database tables of its own, nor does it use any direct SQL queries. Everything that is writes to the database goes through a native WP function, and as part of WordPress, those are pretty stable.
