I'm an independent historian/author of 19th- and early 20th-century letterpress fonts, print designer, PDF devoté and website newbie with a budget of zero. When I needed to establish an "Internet Presence," a savvy family member recommended WP. So I jumped head-first into a Crash Course for the Clueless.
I knew *exactly* how my site should look: lean, mean, scholarly and pretty. It turned out that the header config I pictured is "backwards." I wanted an image linked to the "home page" to appear on the right as if integrated at the top of the main navigation sidebar.
Experienced WP users said it couldn't be done. Instead, they raved about slide shows and other state-of-the-art "glitz" that didn't suit the nature of my work. As I browsed available free themes, Suffusion's claim of flexibility grabbed my attention. I downloaded it and explored its possibilities...
Guess what? My first hunch was right, and I never needed to try another theme. Suffusion DID it--just as I imagined. Best of all, by experimenting with the Theme Skinning options, I figured it out all by myself!
Countless thanks to Sayontan Sinha for his HARD work and dedication and to his top-notch forum for help with basics as well as fine-tuning tweaks.
I'm convinced that Suffusion is The Way to Go for newbies like me and for pros too.
