• Hello all,

I’m new with WordPress, and I’m wondering about hosting options before I make my blog live. Currently I’m with Bluehost and I really like their customer support and features, however it’s very slow. around 20+ seconds on a 10mbps connection. I’ve been considering Amazon S3 (3.2seconds) however I’m a little bit confused as to how it integrates with WordPress.

My question: Would I go with Amazon S3 and they handle all the hosting for my WordPress site, or do I use Bluehost to host the site, and Amazon S3 just for media files?

Thanks in advance for taking the time on this one.

  • Hi Graham,

Have you optimized your WordPress website? I’d suggest installing a caching plugin like WP super cache to improve page load speeds. I’m not too familiar with Amazon s3 but at first glance it appears to be a storage service not a web server. There appears to be a number of plugins you can use to store your WordPress media on Amazon s3, but it would still appear you’d need a web server for your WordPress installation. I hope this helps!
