# Beginner challenges

 * 1. I’ve figured out how to add a thumbnail as a custom field in my posts and 
   now the thumbnail shows up next to the excerpt when i first publish the post.
   The problem I am having is, once the post is published and i navigate to the 
   post trough the category it is under, the thumbnail is no longer there.
 * 2. Parent Categories and Child categories. When I create a post I’ve found that
   I have to assign the post to its parent category and a child category in order
   for my menu items to show up with the correct Hierarchy structure. It may be

 * 1. Sounds like you’d need to edit category.php and/or single.php to include your
   custom field image.

 * Thank you. As a beginner, I’m not quite sure I know what you mean by category.
   php? where would I edit this?
 * Good thought on only assigning the post to the child category, however it didn’t
   seem to change anything. i still have to click on the category and then the child
   category and finally the post. seems like a lot of clicks. I’ll play with it 
   some more, thanks again.
