  • Here’s what I hope to accomplish in the finished product:

Place three containers within a ubiquitous grid design that I am using: one container for the full text of the most recent news item, two, for direct links to the five most recent news items, and three, for the archive of older news items.

Can I use the same HTML with CSS to define my template to preserve the design?

  • that sounds easy, take a look at common templates and you’ll see they include recent posts, rss feeds, blogroll links, archives, etc.

if you are hoping to use the same html and css as a current site, expect to alter it some, as wp uses php to add widgets etc. try installing a wp and playing with the design template to get a feel for it.
