# been hacked :(

 * hey im using wordpress 2.0.4 and last night i noticed that my website had got
   a ton of pop ups and its not from my host, the host said that someones used a
   script to cause pop ups somewhere in the files. i have no idea what to do, i 
   tried googling the problem and only found something about that in 2.0.3.
    does
   anyone know how to fix this problem and get rid of this virus, pop up, hack thing?

 * What do you mean by “popups”? Are you talking about comments? Comment spam is
   common.
    Plugins: Akismet Bad Behavior Google them – use them.
 * You should upgrade to version WP 2.0.5 – 2.0.4 has documented security flaws 
   which 2.0.5 fixes.

 * no,, like actual pop ups, as soon as you visit the index.php about 10 pop ups
   come up and its not from the host at allll. they said theres a script somewhere
   in your wordpress causing it. it only just happened, i hadnt changed or added
   anything then it happened a few hours ago, the host people were positive that
   someones launched a vulnerable script on my site making it cause these problems
   with wordpress and im not sure what to do or what file i might havew to look 
   for to delete,, cause all they said was re start your website again 🙁

 * OK – download a fresh copy of WP. Compare the files you unzip to the ones on 
   your site. If there is a file that shouldn’t be there – delete it. If not upload
   the new files overwriting the old ones. Then run /wp-admin/upgrade.php.
    Report
   results back. This should work if nothing was injected into database – which 
   is doubtful.
