The layout is beautiful. Unfortunately it’s unethically designed. A free version of a theme should be designed for smaller people who need simplistic functionality, and the paid version should include powerful features needed by a larger organization. The free version of this theme is intentionally obfuscated and convoluted in design for basic features in order to force people who have no need of a paid theme into having to pay a premium price for features they don’t need. This leads to numerous bugs in the basic operation of the free version with regards to it functioning dynamically and responsively. The designers work to remedy this bug by bug which results in frequent updates. If you choose this theme be aware you’re going to have to daily play around with different versions of all your plugins to try and find just the right combination that works with the most recent theme version, and will often have to accept bugs or vulnerabilities to maintain functionality. Due to the convoluted design, this problem does not go away with the paid version, it just becomes more bitter to swallow.

    Hey there,

We’re sad to know that you feel this way. We try to make sure our Free version has a lot of features that most people need. We have a Pro version and we try to sell it, of course, as that runs our company going, but we don’t treat our free products as “trial” versions but they are a theme of their own.

As for bugs, we are constantly making our theme compatible with more and more plugins, and when those plugins, such as WooCommerce, have an update, we have to update our theme accordingly to stay on the right path.

Also, there are A LOT of people who are using Hestia, so more eyes === more bug reports, which we consider to be a good thing. By constantly removing those bugs, we’re improving our theme. Our theme isn’t perfect, but with every update it’s better than its previous version. 🙂

We understand your frustration, and we thank you for your honest review. Thank you for giving us a try.
