As some of you have noticed, support & development of this plugin has really fallen off the rails. It’s become a pain to maintain and enhance a codebase that dates back as far as this one. It’s time to start fresh.

I’ve begun work on a complete rewrite of the plugin, currently called “Dave’s WordPress Live Search: The Next Generation”. My goal is to write it with modern best practices so it’s less of a pain to work on.

Check it out on Github: https://github.com/daveross/dwlstng

Pull requests, issues, and documentation are always welcome!

Add a feature to collect search words for Google Analytics (GA) with events.
Now only when a person visits the ‘see more’ page, GA can be ordered to collect the searched keyword for from the URL part. But most people find there page or answer from the live results and never visit the search result URL. That results in no search filled report in GA.

proper way to work along other live search plugins (example KB plugin for only KB articles now has 2 live search results…
