Support » Plugin: Smush Image Compression and Optimization » Be Careful What You Ask For

  • This app provider has a long-standing banner on my WordPress logon page – which I can’t get rid of – asking for a review. Their product was installed by my web developer. Her call. She’s really good, so I trust her to know what she’s doing. And I gather the app somehow saves space ? Aside from that, I have no idea whether it works…and if it does, whether it works well. Or badly. Or so-so. My site behaves pretty much as it always does. ie: very nicely thanks. Anyway, to be fair, but neutral, I’ve given it 3 stars. Maybe too generous. Maybe not generous enough. Who knows ? I’m sure the developers are nice people who are kind to animals. There. My review. Enjoy. You’re welcome.

    Hey there Vf2,

Thank you for taking time to write a review, we really appreciate it 🙂

Regarding the notice there is actually a “No Thanks” link as well which removes the notice from your admin, please see screenshot http://screencast.com/t/3SpyI4gYO6 so you don’t have to write a review in order to remove it.

You can check if your images are being optimized by going to Media -> Library by checking the Smush Stats link http://screencast.com/t/WtNKD5seS0. By default plugin optimizes them automatically on image upload unless selected otherwise in plugin settings page.

The plugin optimizes images without you having to do anything, using WPMU DEV servers and it does that absolutely free, so based on that and the fact that it has almost 2,5 million downloads and average rating of 4.7 I think it’s safe to say that is is a good plugin 🙂

And lastly we do not test our plugins on animals, so you could definitely say that we are kind to them 😛

    Have a great day!

    Cheers,
    Bojan – WPMU DEV
