    Hey Nikeo,

First of all this is an inquiry, not a complaint. I love your theme.

I just installed bbPress, and have been trying to setup all of the forum pages with a sidebar. I’ve never used bbPress before, and don’t quite understand it’s integration with my Pages and Primary Nav Menu. Particularly Customizr’s Full Width vs Sidebar formats. I’ve had no problem changing the formatting of individual pages up until I tried to do it with bbPress. It seems to work fine with Full Page Layout, but I can’t find any option to change the layout for individual forums.

    Here’s a link to my site: Toolbox-4-Websites

I installed the bbPress Plugin into my WordPress 3.6 beta 3 installation.
I then created a new page titled “Forums” with a right sidebar.
I drag & dropped that page into my Primary Navigation Menu.
I created two Forum categories and dropped them beneath my “Forums” menu page.
I dragged all of the bbPress Widgets into my Theme’s right sidebar.

    Here’s the problem:

When I click on a Forum category, it opens up in a Full Page format missing the sidebar. The viewers never get to see the 7 widgets.
I also notice that when I’m in the Admin panel, I’m given the option to edit the Forum, but NOT THE PAGE itself. Is this a bbPress issue, OR a Customizr issue?

I’ve already read that Customizr is intentionally designed to NOT allow the first Primary Menu Title to open as a page…only what’s beneath each title. Could the design choice of that option be hindering my ability to edit each page beneath the main menu titles? Or do you think I should be contacting the support of bbPress?

Thank You for your Theme !

Has anybody using this theme been able to successfully integrate bbPress with all 7 of the Widgets available?

I still CANNOT get sidebars enabled for forum pages. Here are links from my Primary Nav Menu to show what I’m talking about:

Without sidebars, no one can participate in a forum.

(I’m using Customizr version 2.1.8. The new dev version 3.0 gave me lockup problems).

    Hi Shapeshifter,
What are the lockup problems you are mentionning with 3.0?
    Thanks,
    Nicolas

    Nikeo,

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you, I just got out of bed about 1 1/2 hours ago and had to go to a nearby retail store for wireless access.

To answer your question, I’m not sure. I usually update to the latest dev version of your theme whenever you come out with it. When I updated last night, everything seemed to work fine until I tried to log out. Instead of logging out, I got a white screen with about 15-17 lines of errors all referring to a wrong “class” code (I forgot to make a screen copy for you).

It may be something that I caused…not sure. I had previously installed bbPress and left open the ability for anonymous users to reply to topics. Several anonymous uses spammed my account (I think).

I also periodically install, enable, use, and uninstall the WP Super Cache plugin to delete the cache while making changes/updates to my site. IF I leave WP Super Cache installed/enabled on my site, over time It will freeze up my site…don’t know why, so I just use it temporarily. Maybe Super Cache has conflicts with you recent update.

I reinstalled the previous version of Customizr (2.1.8) and everything went back to normal, BUT I still can’t enable sidebars in my bbPress pages.

    Nikeo,

Have any of your other customers been successful integrating the bbPress plugin with your theme?

    Hi Shapeshifter,
I don’t know any users (not customers…) that have issues with bbpress.
Perhaps you should create a new topic about that?

    Thank you Sir,

I was trying to continue this thread since most of my concerns are listed here already. Maybe someone else will pick up on it. I was trying to find out if other users have been successful in getting all of the bbPress plugin options to work correctly.

bbPress seems to create pages that are not actually “Pages” that can be edited within this theme. Maybe I’m doing something wrong. Here’s where I tried to find a solution on the actual bbPress site two weeks ago:

    http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/full-page-vs-sidebar-installation/

I’m not sure if you will see this shapeshifter I have been trying to figure out how to get the bbpress sidebar to work in my forums. My forums load fine, (I created a page and added the [bbp-forum-index]to it)

I installed the bbpress WP Tweaks plugin

now i’m stuck, i can not get the sidebars to work on the forum pages, which i could live with (wouldn’t be ideal, but hey) except that having the log-in on the sidebar makes life easier. Anyone have a ideas (FYI am very new to all of this)

    Shannon123,

My current solution to a decent bbPress presentation is to install bbPress in a Duplicate Theme on a Separate Domain name, and then provide links to those Forums in your Main Theme’s Nav Menu. This requires the purchase of another domain name on a server, and some administrators may not want to do that.

I use the 2nd Domain/Theme combo for the FORUMS ONLY, and then I have no conflicts with how I set my Sidebars up. I also stopped using the WP Tweaks Plugin, and don’t think it’s necessary with this method.

The other thing you need to know, is that I switched to a Bootstrap 3 theme several months ago, and don’t know if that’s the reason I’ve been successful or not. My current solution may also work for you, using your current Customizr theme. You’ll have to test it out, and see if it works. Here are New links to both my Main Site and, my Separate Forums Site:

    Good luck !

I was able to solve it with a plug in called Display Widgets, it makes it very simple to load specific widgets in your sidebars based on the page, or type of post.. took me a while to find it, but it avoided me having to dig into it or taking a different path

    thank you

RE: Customizr & bbPress – Both Sidebars ARE Showing Up With The bbPress Forum In The Middle – Yay!

    SETUP:
    WP v 3.9
    Customizr v 3.1.11 / Using a Customizr Child Theme
    bbPress v 2.5.3

Just for the record, yes, both sidebars with various widgets are showing up with the bbPress Forum showing in the middle …. http://www.the-rv-life.com … I am very happy to report.

I do love Customizr! What a winner!
