Hi Robin, good news for you not so good for me:
I ran some tests again on staging and almost everything works !
1) A new user who is registered and subscribed to the forums by default receives a notification for a new topic created by another user.
2) he receives follow-up notifications if he subscribes to the topic
3) If already logged in, auto-access to the forum topic from email link
4) if not logged in previously, no more 404 but no automatic access to the forum after logging in following email link
I don’t understand why main site doesn’t run that way…

should be fixed in latest release, although login only goes to the topic after login, not the reply – I have further work to do on that.
You would need to clarify what ‘I don’t understand why main site doesn’t run that way…’ means – all 4 don’t work, and if so what exactly doesn’t each one do

First point : on the staging login goes to a new topic after login and goes to the reply after login too
Second point : on the main it’s not that easy to make test because I don’t want to bother members. They already receive so many emails… staging site is supposed to avoid that 😉
anyway I am going to check it…
I Robin, I am lost, email link goes to login on staging site but page 404 on the main. Did you do something I don’t know on the staging when you had admin pass ?
Please let me know, that make me crazy !
