• Seems like this should be an easy setting somewhere but I just can’t seem to find it.

I have in Options > Writing

Users should use the visual rich editor by default
    and
Convert emoticons like 🙂 and 😛 to graphics on display
    checked.

When commenting on a post, the emotions buttons are there. But once the post is made, it’s all text – no emotions or bb code ([url], [b], etc).

  • The Options > Writing panel is for writing posts, it doesn’t apply to comments.

And as far as I know, WP doesn’t natively support phpBB-style emoticons/bb code, though there might be a plugin for that if you google around.

what is plugin for support phpBB-style emoticons/bb code
