basket not working with thwenty-thirteen

i have basic set up wordpress setup with godaddy. i instaleld twenty-thriteen theme and created a child themes. i copied over the
page.phpand replaced the while loop with<?php woocommerce_content(); ?>. when i had an item to basket it does try to view cart, the page opnes but basket is empty
