 * trying to get basic authentication to work with wp rest api. seems to only authenticate
   cookies. I need it to authenticate with basic authentication. have installed 
   the plugin basic auth as well.
 * any ideas

 * What error message are you getting?

   about this and it is saying that it may be that you might used the wrong plugin.

 * I’m getting a 500 internal server error. I saw that post and have tried both 
   plugins. If I access the api link in a browser while being logged in in a different
   window it works. If I log out and then run the link I get a no access error. 
   Almost appears as if word press is not getting the basic authentication information.
