 * I upgraded to 3.3.1, and soon after, was hacked.
I realized that after the update,
I needed to set my files to read only. I now see files in the wp-includes folder
   also hacked, this code added.
 * My site is currently visible, and links into it work, but – When I googled myself(
joetaxpayer) the google results were as expected, but the links though looking
correct in firefox, led elsewhere. I asked google to un-search me, but the same
issue is with Bing. A search on Joetaxpayer shows my site but links head elsewhere.
 * Any more details on this? How to track what needs fixing?

 * I’ll be reading these tonight, thank you.
I use 1&1 and they are not helpful
beyond “change your FTP password.” So I’m here, and appreciate the links.

 * There are other web hosts that are much better and more secure than 1&1

 * I appreciate the list. I bought a car with less effort than this. (Three friends
had the particular car, all had no complaints. Comfortable ride, etc.)
 * Bluehost comes up first on list, but sites like [WebHostingGeeks](http://webhostinggeeks.com)
shows a low (of top ten) rank.
 * I understand, the number of those with issues are more likely to complain, than
the number of those who are happy will go write nice things. So volume oddly
drives the bad reviews. I just interviewed BH on chat and at least the salesgal
seemed to offer more info that was helpful. I understand much of the work is
mine, but current host fails right now.

 * Just my two cents on hosting… I’ve hosting on Bluehost for years, and really
can’t complain about them. Really the only host I’ve found that I like better
is Site5, and even that is by a pretty slim margin (I like their propitiatory
admin panel better than Bluehost’s cPanel).

 * kionae – have you been hacked ever?
In my IM interview with BlueHost, at least
she was able to talk about how they scan for these things, it’s not just left
for me to discover after the fact.

 * No, I’ve never been hacked on Bluehost. I run four WordPress installs and a fifth
site that runs on custom-written code on my hosting account, and never had a
   problem.
