    Hi all,

Looking at this plugin for client of ours who wants a live chat feature that only pops up when users are visiting from a certain location.. They are a local business and found that when they trialled a live chat service before, they were getting questions from users that didn’t want to do actually business with them due to location. I have seen the ‘ban ip addresses’ feature mentioned but not sure this will actually address the need here. Many thanks.

    Hi @philosophi15,

Thank you for getting in touch, we do appreciate your time.

Unfortunately, IP Address logging has been removed temporarily under the GDPR. We will be developing an alternative tracking method which will anonymize the user’s identity and allow you to track unique visitors accordingly.

The banning functionality can still be used, however, you would need to identify the users IP address another way as out internal IP tracking is no longer in place. Meaning, we no longer store this data as per the GDPR.

We also do not currently have a way of preventing chats from being started outside of the IP ban functionality.

I do apologize for the inconvenience caused.
