• If I receive an abusive comment & check the Spam box as I delete it, will the commenter’s IP & e mail be automatically banned or do I have to do this manually?

  • You will have to ban people/IP manually. WP will only delete a particular comment as SPAM.

SO tell me what’s the difference between clicking on the Delete button & the Spam button in the Comments section? There must be some diff, no?

If you mark something as Spam, then it stays in the database, marked as Spam. Supposedly in anticipation of some future spam upgrade or something? If you delete it, it’s deleted.

A little strange I must say…now, if they’d figure out a way that marking something as spam in the Comments section would actually automatically add the user’s ip & e mail to the blacklist (w/o having to go to a diff. screen to do this), that’d be great.

Do I hear plugin anyone (or perhaps one of these anti-spam plugins already does it?

Actually, I just got spam karma 2 working after 2 wks. of trying & it appears to do just that though someone more knowledgable than I can tell me whether I’m right or not.
