Hi @sangitamane
I would make sure you have cleared the cache for all types of files. That error only occurs when you have upgraded the banner but your site is still caching the Simple Banner javascript file. I just added a feature to clear cache on settings save, so you could also try saving the banner settings once or twice and see if that alleviates your issue.
Hi @rpetersen29, thanks for your prompt reply, I tried activating, deactivating, clearing cache etc. but nothing has helped, it still shows undefined. I even saved the settings again. Its a WordPress multisite network, if that helps.
Hey @sangitamane
If you can enable the banner on your site again I can take a closer look, I’m not currently seeing it on your site. I have only seen the issue you’re seeing when the Simple Banner JavaScript is cached to a 2.x.x version. Version 3 added multi-banner support so instead of pulling the text from 1 field it’s pulling it from an array of 5. And if the JavaScript doesn’t reflect that it shows undefined.
@rpetersen29 I have enabled it again, saved settings again, also cleared cache. Please check and then I need to disable it again as its showing “undefined”
Hi @sangitamane
I’m seeing the banner properly on my end. It’s showing “The BMC Blog Network has moved to the Research Communities.“
I did see that the query string version number for the javascript file is missing. I would look into your cache plugin settings to see if it strips query strings. Simple banner adds a version number as a query string for cache busting purposes. If those numbers are stripped then a user’s browser cache could override your server side cache.
If you’re still seeing undefined you can see this by opening your page in incognito mode and you should be able to see your banner properly.
Yes its resolved now. I did file permissions reset and also deleted and installed the plugin again.
