Ban users

I´m trying to block with wild card some ips, but I´m getting an error

50.22.*.* is not a valid address as it has been white listed.
50.97.*.* is not a valid address as it has been white listed.
75.126.*.* is not a valid address as it has been white listed.
91.146.*.* is not a valid address as it has been white listed.
103.39.*.* is not a valid address as it has been white listed.

The instructions said:

If using a wildcard (*) you must start with the right-most number in the ip field. For example ###.###.###.* and ###.###.*.* are permitted

So, I do not know why do not allow me to do that
