  • Bait-and-switch! It is NOT free. It disables if you do not pay! What a con! Waste of time/effort setting it up.

    stealing time/effort = stealing money

  • I believe the FAQ is quite clear.

    Is it free or paid?
The plugin is free. But the plugin uses CleanTalk cloud service to filter spam bots. You have to register an account and then you will receive a free trial to test anti-spam for comments, registrations, bookings, contacts or orders. When the trial (on CleanTalk account) is finished, you can renew the subscription for 1 year or deactivate anti-spam plugin.

I have used it for a couple of years now on WordPress and Mediawiki sites. It works exactly as advertised and is definitely worth the annual fee.

    Hello.

    Thank you for your review.

The fact that the plugin has a premium type service is mentioned in the plugin annotation and in its WordPress catalog description:

Most importantly we do not advertise the plugin as a free one. We say up front that this is a premium plugin and you have free trial before switching to its premium version.

CleanTalk is a plugin with free code which works with the Cloud Anti-Spam Service: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_as_a_service

We offer the most fastest, strongest, wide functionality anti-spam for any WordPress users for a very cheap price.

    All the best.

There are better plugins for free. I am using one now. I have not received a single SPAM comment since activating. And guess what: the developers don’t send “give me money” emails and deceptive emails (such as “This email is about donuts and coffee”) every day.

By the way, someone changed my review from 1 to 5 stars.
