Support » Plugin: Wordfence Security - Firewall & Malware Scan » BAD that the plugin doesn’t delete all when deleted

  • When you delete the plugin, it doesn’t delete the wordfence-waf.php file, and when you delte this, the whole site stops working!!

The work around is to delete everything that has to do with wordfence in files like:
    user.ini
    .user.ini
    .htaccess

Why dont you get a headsup on this when you delete the plugin?

Thanks for reaching out. I’ll make sure that is passed over to the dev team. The solution is actually easier than manually deleting things though.

On the Wordfence Dashboard > Global Options page in the General Wordfence Options section you can select “Delete Wordfence tables and data on deactivation” and save the changes. That would put Wordfence back into a default state if you reactivated it. Alternatively, removing extended protection on the Firewall > Manage WAF page and then deleting the plugin would make sure that you didn’t have a problem with the firewall trying to load something that wasn’t there.

Again, thanks for pointing that out.
